so i figure i might as well put my movie watching to use and come up with e’s best of for 2005. now i am no critic who gets invites to premiers and festivals, so by no means have i seen every movie of ’05. i’ve tried to see blockbusters and independents, and basically anything that looks interesting. i certainly don't discriminate. so in honor of the academy awards, i’ve compiled the 43 movies from 2005 that i have seen and have chosen my top ten. and i hope these are all the movies that i’ve seen. i got this list from my blog, but as i’ve said before, there were some movies that i swear i reviewed, yet are no where to be found on the blog. so i could have seen more than what i found for all i know. unfortunately i wasn't able to see all the '05 movies i had hoped. there are about 5 movies that i had intended to view, however they are currently in limbo between their end at the theater and dvd release. anyways, the first list is my top 6-10 in no particular order. next will be my top 5 in no particular order. sorry i wasn't able to actually rank them 1 through 10, but that would have been too difficult. so drum roll please...i present to you, the first annual, top ten movies of 2005, according to your movie master e shizzle:
#'s 6-10:
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Sin City
Upside of Anger
Assault on Precinct 13
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
and finally, #'s 1-5:
Kingdom of Heaven
Brokeback Mountain
Shopgirl
Syriana
Jarhead
so please feel free to disagree, cuz i know you do. honorable mentions, which are actually in order from best to least best, are The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, War of the Worlds, Revenge of the Sith, and The Weatherman. so i guess this was a bit anticlimactic. sorry if that was the case. you should see all of these movies however. they are a bit of everything. some are entertaining, thought provoking, epic, sweet and emotional, and action packed. i attempt to include a wide variety of types of film in my viewing habits which is why each movie is very different from the next. the academy awards are this sunday and jon stewart is hosting so it should be incredible. so until next year, happy viewing and the curtain is closed.
